ROAD AND PEDESTRIAN NETWORKS - CARRARA, ITALY
Client: Carrara Port Authority
Subject: Urban Design for road and pedestrian network
Project: AR&P with T.Badano, F.Grigò, M.Oddone, Martelli
Size: 4 Km of length
The projects combines a new road network with public open spaces and pedestrian corridors. Heavy traffic has been segregated within an underground tunnel, which by-passess the city centre.
The roof top of the tunnel is used as a ‘rambla’, an active spine which connects the two opposite sides of the main road. Therefore the design facilitates pedestrians movement and reduces traffic hazard and air pollution.
