SHOPPING MALL - BEIJING, CHINA
Subject: Concept Masterplan and Concept Architecture design
Size: 450,000 sqm GBA
The design of this shopping mall and commercial buildings reinforces an important ‘corner’ of the urban structure of Beijing. It represents one of the most significant interventions in a currently derelict area of the city centre.
The project goal is to integrate the shopping mall in the urban system, avoiding isolation, but rather complementing the mall with open spaces, squares, and multy accesses.
For this reason the main covered gallery of the mall is designed as an internal street, with shopping levels directly facing the central space and with easy system of accessibility to the upper floors.
