CULTURAL CENTRE FOR NANJING, CHINA
Client: Nanjing Planning Administrative Bureau
Subject: Concept Masterplan and Architecture design
Size: 300,000 sqm project area
The project aims to renew and complete the design of the park located in the historic heart of Nanjing.
This objective is achieved outlining the value of the project’s historical elements: the Jiming temple, the ancient Walls and the Observatory Complex (which are within the park), the Bell Temple and the Drum Temple (which are outside the park).
The projects enhances the visual perception between those buildings, defines the surrounding spaces by introducing ‘pavilions’ for exhibitions and art events.
The curved shape of the pavilions directly refers to the hilly environment of the park, providing a good integration in the natural landscape.
